Solas Programme Information



We produce three core programmes per year...Autumn, Winter and Spring with a smaller programme running over the Summer months. These programmes include a wide range of group-based support and individual therapies & counselling.

Support is focused on the following key areas:


  • - Relaxation: Includes Meditation, Acupuncture and Relaxation Skills
  • - Creative: Includes Art, Music and Craft based activities
  • - Exercise: Focussed on yoga-based activities including Restorative Yoga
  • - Drop-in: Informal sessions with no commitment nor expectation


Our core programme is funded by the Big Lottery Fund People and Communities Fund



 

Covid Related Programme Changes


Since Covid 19 we have adapted our approach to ensure we were able to support people during and after the crisis, both members new to us and existing members.  This is done in a number of different ways:


  • Telephone-based support: offering regular calls for those isolated, lonely or anxious during this time; our counselling service is also offered via telephone while people are uncertain about meeting face to face
  • Video platforms: most of our group activities are delivered solely through zoom video conferencing platform, and we are happy to provide support to anyone who is new to using this type of application; our counsellors also offer sessions via WhatsApp video calling to encourage a 'face to face' connection while working remotely
  • Small group in-house: We have recently introduced the option for people to join in small groups in Solas house and we encourage pre-booking of places. This includes Warm Welcome sessions to make connections and our acupuncture and meditation clinics to help ease stress & anxiety.  In addition, individual counselling and complementary therapies can be offered face to face.
